Swimming In Ecstasy: A Sunday Roast At The Cadbury
The search for the ultimate pub Sunday roast has been ongoing for a while. But today, 18th April 2010, 25 years after Gareth David Evans was born, we think we may have found it.
It's at The Cadbury Pub, Bristol.
1. Choice: Pork, Beef, Chicken, Butter Bean, Roast Garlic and Herb Bake (v). All looked good, wish we could've had them all, maybe one day we will.
2. Vegatables, (for us this is generally where bought pub lunches are let down). Soft, flavoured (Basil), not the hard brittle root I end up putting in my mouth usually. Red cabbage, white cabbage, carrots, super roasters. It was all kicking off.
3. A cracking yorkshire pud, almost bread-like in its consistency, and stuffing which almost resembled a an Indian-style Pakora, but was actually a diverse ball of joy.
Me and Gareth got pork scratchings with our pork, Andy, with his Beef, got Horeradish Whipped Cream, with a light, delicate, subtle flavour (Andy stressed this). And all for £7.50.
Chilled reggae soundtrack to boot.
Overall: A tender taste of supple heaven.
